本片改编自小说《荒村》，故事讲述关智斌饰演的年轻音乐创作人孟凡在数年前推出成名作之后便无以为继，陷入创作低迷期，又由于不肯与女友结婚而弄至分手一日，他意外从互网上得知一个神秘的千年古镇“荒村”，在那里有着金色花海、碧绿竹林的古镇里，有一个“荒村客栈”，流传着一个叫胭脂的古代女人的动人传说，为了摆脱困境，寻找创作灵感，孟凡来到了这个“荒村客栈”。在这个古老诡异的客栈里，奇怪的事情接踵而至...
